January 3, 2010 was Faiq's first day of formal schooling, at his brand new Sekolah Rendah Bandar Seri Putera, Bangi. On that day, I had the privilege of taking this 1st grandson to school for registration. Tok Wan's other task was to help him buy his school uniforms, books and other necessary stuff, at the school bookstore. Tok Wan was also supposed to stay around to make sure that Faiq didn't leave his classroom, which certainly was viewed by many of the new Year 1 pupils as an unfamiliar place!

Year 2: First day of school, 4th. January 2011. |

Year 1: First day of school |

Year 2: Have the trees and I grown taller? |
|
Year 1: Excitement and uncertainty? |
Faiq had apparently taken about two weeks to get himself adjusted to school life when he was in Year 1. He did cry on several occasions. Kesihan si Faiq. Initially, he was upset over his transfer from 1 Seroja to 1 Tanjung, thinking that the latter was an inferior class. It was funny that Faiq thought I could hear him everytime he cried. He was ashamed of that, and promised every time he met me not to cry again!

Year 2: Strangers again? |
|
Year 1: First day, break time. Too confused whether to eat or not! |
We always believe that time doesn't crawl, but flies. Time does fly, and at super, supersonic speed! When 4th January, 2011 flew in, it was fated that I would again be sending Faiq to his school, for his Day 1,
Year 2 session. Coincidentally, Faiq’s Abah was busy on that day with his first day lectures and
meetings in UPM. Faiq’s Mami, unfortunately, had to look after Ilm, Faiq's youngest brother, who was
recuperating from a knee operation at Hospital Serdang. So, Tok Wan had to take charge, again!
All the Year 2 pupils were grouped into 13 classes, namely Lili, Melur, Tanjung, Kenanga,
Cempaka, Dahlia, Anggerik, Ros, Seroja, Petunia, Ixora, Bogenvila, and Gardenia. Faiq was excited to be admitted into 2 Lili, regarded as the top class. He was also thrilled because he too
had been chosen to be a Pengawas.

Year 2, second day. |
Faiq was happy to find Mahenraj, his keen competitor, in the same class. Mahenraj was his 1 Tanjung classmate last year. In terms of academic performance, Mahenraj was 1 Tanjung's top pupil. Faiq was second. And Alysha, an Indian girl, also joining 2 Lili, was third best.

My guess is, most if not all the top 3 from the other 2010 Year 1 classes were there in 2 Lili that
day. It would be interesting to see how these Lilis, considered the best of the best, would
perform this year, and in time to come. I did remind Faiq on the very first day school began
that academic excellence should not be his sole 'target' for going to school.

The way forward! |
